Private Mat O'Meara, WW1,
« on: Tuesday 30 September 14 13:34 BST (UK) »
Looking for information regarding Private Mat. O'Meara from Dungarubba near Coraki NSW.  He was sick (not injured, according to the Richmond River Herald dated 28 September 1915) and taken to Malta on the transport Niall.

Also for information regarding the O'Meara family from Toomevara/Toomyvara, Co Tipperary, Ireland, who migrated to Australia and were prominent in the Coraki and Kogarah (Sydney suburb) areas of NSW.

Patrick Thomas O'Meara is my grandfather, (born in Australia) but his father was James, born in Ireland.

Any help would be very gratefully received
Kerry

Wow, that was so quick,  Thank you very much.
Yes I do have many references to Patrick and Lillian from Trove, not sure if they are the ones you quoted though, I'll have to check them out.
This is my first question on Roots Chat so I'm not sure of the protocols, so, am I allowed to ask if you are part of the O'Meara family, or are you a virtual volunteer who helps with research.
Thanks again, much appreciated
Kerry

There is a probate record for James O'MEARA who died 4 Aug 1939 at NSW state records
http://investigator.records.nsw.gov.au/Entity.aspx?Path=\Item\640540

I can photograph this for you next time I visit the records office if you wish.  Probate records contain a will, often a death cert and sometimes other useful bits and pieces.

Thanks for your kind offer
