Bagshaw family Kniveton, Derbyshire

I would be grateful if anyone could help me trace the parents of my 4 time great grandfather William Bagshaw born approx. 1742. William was a farmer and corn merchant at Kniveton, Nr. Ashbourne, Derbyshire. He was the Parish Clerk for over 30 years. He died 6th March 1805 aged 63 yrs. I have other Bagshaw families in Kniveton who predate William but cannot find the link to them.
William was married twice, his first wife Sarah Hague died May 1790, he married his second wife Sarah Tomlinson July 1794. I have been researching this line of my family for over 35 years but still cannot find the missing piece to the jigsaw.

Are there any Bagshaw witnesses at either marriage?
Did he leave a will?

Thank you for replying. No witnesses given in the register at that time. Yes, there is a will and I have a copy.

I have looked at this one before but was not able to follow it up. Working on the basis that most families at the time named their children after their fathers/grandfathers, William named his first two children John and William.

If there's no mention of any siblings in his will & there are no witnesses on his 1794 marriage ( there should be) it's difficult to know how to proceed. Even if you find a William with a father John you're not going to know if he's yours.

I have seen the original marriage register and none of the entries of that time have witnesses, it is a one line entry giving their names, residence, status and occupation. With regards to his will, he was in his 60's when he died and left everything to his wife and children.
I appreciate how difficult this research is, I have been banging my head at a brick wall for years. Just thought it might be worth asking on Rootschat. I purchased the disk for all bmd's at Kniveton but it did not help me make the link.

Although many families did use this naming pattern, it is certainly not a hard-and-fast rule. Families could - and did- name their children whatever they liked
I certainly wouldn't rule that birth out just because the father's name does not fit an arbitrary pattern

I have a family tree done by a relative and William bagshaw was married at St Giles church in hartington his father robert bagshaw was also married there to Sarah sleigh in 1741
