Rose Cole (nee Harris)
« on: Saturday 04 October 14 12:30 BST (UK) »
Rose born East Woodhay Hants 1888(9) married J P Cole 1913 had child Dorothy 1915.    Was in Warlingham Hospital Surrey for two periods after.  J P Cole divorced her in 1939 due to her mental state.  She was represented by "a Guardian".  Only child Dorothy died in 1942.  I can find no trace of her after that.  All her married life she appears to have lived in Pemdevon Road Croydon.
Cannot find any record of her death - have purchased 5 Death Certificates - all wrong.  Checked cemeteries as far as possibel.    How can someone just disappear?  As her grandaughter I never met her but would like to know what happened to her.

it would help if you put which death certs you have   there is a death in surrey dated 1975 but will likely be one of the ones you have purchased   the name and date of which you have would be useful to help eliminate what you have got

It appears Charles Harris born 1848 died 1914 aged 66 years.  - Redg Dist Kingsclere. Hampshire. 2 c 276.
Kingsclere fits with East Woodhay.
Anc tree is confirming the above details - so you have another researcher you may be able to contact.

Perhaps this was the hospital which may have been hit by a bomb - hence the entry as a WW2 Civilian Death. After her divorce Rose reverted to her maiden name.
The building was in use as a home for the destitute.  Workhouse conditions prevailed until WW2, when the Homes became a Class 2 hospital under the Emergency Medical Scheme.

I have the Death Certificate of Rose MARY Harris Female 53 years of 16 Devonshire Road
She was the daughter of Charles Harris he was a Railway platelayer my gt grandad was an Ag worker.  She had never been known as Rose  MARY Harris in all papers i e birth certificate, census and marriage certificates.  When in the Mental Hospital each occasion she is shown as Rose
Cole (nee Harris)
I have the above certificate and those of
Rose Cole of 84 Tavistock Place St Pancras died 9th January 1941
Rose Harris 1 Council Houses Bramshill 20th February 1957 widow of Charles Harris
7/5/1932 Rose Maude Cole marriage certificate (thought she might have remarried but due to her mental state I dont think  she would have done.)
One problem is I dont know if she would  reverted from her married name of Cole to her maiden name of Harris.
I have been looking about 15 years but will never give up hope!
Thanks everyone for help
