German Redfern
« on: Monday 06 October 14 20:27 BST (UK) »
My four times great grand father German Redfern, a farmer, was born in 1741 and married in Stanley, Derbyshire in 1769 to Mary Buckland of Dale Abbey, just down the road.
I think that William Redfern of Denby was his brother, so German may also have been born in Denby.
Does anyone have any knowledge of German Redfern's parents?

Many thanks for your prompt reply.  That pushes his birthdate back two years before what I had thought, but matches the Denby link with his brother.  Perhaps the Gorman name for his father should be German as well.

Thanks, I have that.  It looks as if the Gorman was a misprint.

This German Redfern was christened on 29.10.1707 in Morton and buried on 3.9.1720 also in Morton.

Sorry, I got that wrong.  It was German's father Isaac who was buried in 1720

You can find William Redfern, German's brother, at

Note the link between the Swinnerton and Redfern families.
