Hi Rhondy,

Welcome to Rootschat  ;D

Perhaps you could outline more specifically, what details you are looking for and  tell us what you already have - lest we end up spending a lot of time looking out what you already know....

For example..he is the man who:
Married in Queensland Australia 1871, and died there 1914 ?

Did the marriage record say more about his mother, or about his father's occupation?
Do you have his immigration into Australia?

Cheers

Hi Ambly & Rolnora - Rolnora thanks for this information - this looks like him - We know he came to Australia and arrived around 1864 - we know all about him in Australia the information I am chasing for my Ggrandfather John Thomas- who were his Parents - any siblings ect. What did he do prior to 1864 - What was the name of the ship that was sunk during the crimean war - his uncle was alleged to be an admiral on this ship - it is alleged he was the sole survivor was this correct - Where did he go after the war did he go to California -  He apparently became an apprentice at age 15 on a ship - is this true - Any leads or information that you can possible give me will be appreciated as our family has been searching for him for years and have always come to a dead end. Thanks Rhondy.

Hi Rhondy,
A warm welcome from me too  :)

I know you said that you already know about his life in Australia but here is a long obit just in case you don't have it.  http://nla.gov.au/nla.news-article85475883  Unfortunately it doesn't mention parents or siblings  :(

The Queensland BDM death index gives his parents as John THOMAS and Jessie and that he was born Gibraltar and aged 89 years
cheers,
   Ros
