4 x great grandparents

Hi everybody

I've traced my grandfather's family back to my 4 x great grandparents and now I am stuck.

I believe I have traced them back correctly, but please correct me if I am wrong!

My great grandmother Florence Henrietta Arminger was born in 1858 to Emma Eliza Headland and Henry Turner Arminger.  Henry was born in 1828 to Elizabeth Turner and Robert Arminger.  Robert would appear to be the son of Judith Slight and James Arminger.  That is where I have stopped.

I have been looking for parents for James Arminger  I have found a marriage for James to Judith, but nothing else.

Judith Slight was born around 1762 in Norwich, Norfolk and James Arminger was born around 1758 (I assume Norwich too).

Any help would be appreciated.

Sorry, no, not all the events happened in Norfolk.

Elizabeth Turner and Robert Arminger married in Limehouse, London in 1822.  Their son Henry Turner Arminger was born in Norfolk (I believe), but married Emma Headland in St. Pancras, London in 1853.

My great grandmother Florence was born in St. Pancras also.

As far as I know everything else was in Norwich, Norfolk.

Henry's birthplace is given as Reading, Berkshire in 1871: RG10/333/78/2.

And also in 1861: RG9/116/27/47.

And also in 1851: HO107/1646/114/43.

I'm not convinced about his birth place as it is different on different censuses.  He moved around a lot.

He died in 1877 so there aren't any further census entries for him.

Where does Henry give a Norfolk birthplace, or any birthplace other than Reading?

I can't place all the paperwork at the moment, but if you can't see it maybe I have made a mistake.

I do know that his father is definitely Robert Arminger, from his marriage record.  The father of Henry Arminger born 1828 in Norfolk is also called Robert.  I couldn't find any record of a Henry Arminger born in Reading with father Robert.

I can see that on marriage he names his father as Robert, a dyer.

Also that there is a Robert Arminger, dyer, b abt 1798 Norwich who (as a widower) remarries to an Elizabeth Butcher Bassett in London in 1831 and appears in censuses in London until his death in 1868.

Have you traced a death for the first Elizabeth (nee Turner), if she was married to this Robert?

What is the source for this:"The father of Henry Arminger born 1828 in Norfolk is also called Robert" - is there a baptism that you've found?
