Thank you all for replies. R E Sutherland was my great grandmother Angelena`s father. She emigrated to Norway. The pub on the picture from the postcard is an item she brought with her. What im after is where the pub was. City, streetname, Whats there today.

In Kelly's Directory of Durham, 1914 there are seventeen King's Head public houses, and eight in Kelly's Directory of Northumberland, 1914.

Do you know if there is any other registrations of ownership of theese pubs?

Any of the pubs located in Hill Street N number 10?

Robert

In the 1911 census, 10 Hill Street, Sunderland, was the "Prince of Wales" public house, Robert Edwin Sutherland, 42, Hotel Manager, although in the 1914 Directory he is just listed as Robt. Sutherland, Beer Retailer, 10 Hill Street, with no pub name.

There was the King's Head Public House 15 Warren Street, Sunderland, see http://www.durham-images.org/public/ms/m11/m11sb5.html As Robert Edwin Sutherland, was living in Sunderland, I wonder if he would move into a rural market town? This might be the pub, although I can't find a photograph of it.

This is a photo of The King's Head Hotel, Sunderland, it does not give the location, but it will probably be the one in Warren Street  http://www.rootschat.com/links/01bkc/
