Edith Mona Lawrence
« on: Monday 13 October 14 00:28 BST (UK) »
Hello , first time posting here , I've read through many topics and seen how helpful it is  :)
I am looking for information for my great grandmother , Edith Mona Lawrence . She was born  :) :)Aug 12 1891 in Kensington London Eng . She married Aldred McGeorge Jobling not sure of the date . On her Declaration of Passenger to Canada , she has stated that she has a brother , Harris George Lawrence living in Dorset as of 1924 . It's here that I have come to a complete standstill . I cannot find her parents or any other siblings . My mom seems to think that maybe she went to live with other relatives, also that she had more than one sibling . I am hoping to find somebody that can help me  :)thank you
Lisa

Ancestry shows her baptism which confirms the birthdate you have:

Edith Mona Lawrence b.12/8/1891 bap.1/2/1908 Cowes, Hampshire (Isle of Wight), dau. of Ernest William and Margaret Annie Lawrence.

It looks like Edith's husband, Eldred, travelled to America on the Aquitania' arriving in New York 17 Aug 1923 ex Southampton.
Age shown as 32 and was a 'member of the crew'

The age for Margaret in 1891 should probably read 35!

Ernest William Lawrence, Wine Merchant, son of Randall Lawrence, Wine Merchant married Margaret Annie Herbert, dau. of Frank Herbert, Gentleman on 3/5/1876 at St. John of Jerusalem Church, South Hackney, London

From an online tree (part of which is wrong) and other sources it seems (at least) that the children of Ernest and Margaret are:

Alice Maud   born 1878 Buckhurst Hill, Essex
Herbert Wilfred born 1879 South Hackney, London
Nora Dorcas born 1880 Hackney
Harris George born 1888 Farnham, Surrey
Doris Ernestine born 1890 Forest Gate, Essex
Edith Mona born 1891 Kensington
Randall Gordon born 1898 Churt, Surrey
Margaret Hilda born 1903 Farnham, Surrey

So Edith did have a number of siblings but census shows not often together.   For instance, in 1901 Ernest and Margaret only had son Randall with them!

A later source shows they'd had a total of 13 children so another 5 to find!

Good grief - all those children, most of which seemed to be 'farmed out' most of the time.
