« on: Tuesday 14 October 14 10:28 BST (UK) »
I am looking for info about my Irish/Scottish family. My Grandfather was Andrew Macara Macrory married to Janet (not sure whether McGregor/Peck). They have living relatives in NZ, Australia, UK I am in contact with them, but would like to go back further.
Thank you in advance for any information.

Welcome from me, too! ;D

Not many clues there - but there are a number of trees on Ancestry, which show:

Andrew McAra Macrory, born 8th April 1898, County Antrim, Northern Ireland
married to
Janet McGregor Peck, born 2nd April 1901, Belfast

The 1901 and 1911 Ireland censuses are free to look up:
http://www.census.nationalarchives.ie/
(I'll leave you with the pleasure of looking them up!)

Northern Ireland records can be searched at http://www.nidirect.gov.uk/gro-info

If you have Ancestry, then look on there for family trees - there are 4 of them! ;D

If you don't have a sub for Ancestry, try your local library - they may have Ancestry available?

You've started your online research at a good time since there are lots of new resources available in the last few years.

Here's the Peck family in 1911:
www.census.nationalarchives.ie/pages/1911/Down/Pottinger__part_of_/Grace_Avenue/228235

Will Extracts from www.proni.gov.uk:
"Peck George McGregor of 49 Fitzroy Avenue Belfast retired joiner died 31 January 1946 Administration Belfast 24 April to Daniel Peck assistant foreman boilermaker. Effects £165 16s. 11d."
"Peck Daniel of Ballybeen Dundonald Belfast foreman died 8 October 1955 at Windsor Football Grounds Belfast Administration Belfast 4 January to Maria Peck the widow. Effects £2180 16s. 10d."

Dundonald Cemetery (B2 471)
Elizabeth Brown Peck, 13 Ravenscroft Ave., age 62, died 14 Jan.1925, bur. 17 Jan.1925
George Mcgregor Peck, age 20, died 3 Dec.1941 Royal Victoria Hosp., resided Ballybeen Dundonald, bur. 6 Dec.1941
Mary Maureen Peck, age 21, died 11 Sept.1945 Royal Victoria Hosp., res. Ballybeen Dundonald, buried 14 Sept.1945
George Mcgregor Peck, 49 Fitzroy Ave., age 84, died 31 Jan.1946, bur. 2 Feb.1946
Away sorting out DNA matches... I may be gone for some time many years!

I can't thank you enough. The information is about my Mother's maternal family. George McGregor Peck was her Grandfather and I inherited a chest of drawers he made.
Janet was her Mother and also my middle name.
It is fascinating and I obviously have an awful lot to learn
