Ward
« on: Thursday 16 October 14 15:53 BST (UK) »
Hi, I'm having trouble finding any records of dead relative of mine as he went by many alias's.
He apparently was born Sidney Ernest ward in roughly 1912 in Fulham to Jessie and Samuel ward.
Sidney also went by the surnames of martin and jacobs.
When he died in 1986? His name was jacobs .
His life seems to have been full of lies so the birth date could be wrong.
His mother Jessie died in 1966 and Samuel died in abt 1961.
Jessie came from Edmonton .
Any help would be gratefully received x

Yes he is but he apparently was born under the name ward in 1912 but that could be a red herring.. He was supposedly born in Fulham to Jessie and Samuel .. She came from Edmonton ?
Sidney , we thought was married to my nan who died in 1984 but at her funeral we were told they never married xx

FreeBMD doesn't show any obvious match for such a birth (as Ward) in Fulham, as I'm sure you'll have discovered.

What more can you pin down by way of detail?  Where did Jessie die in 1966 and Samuel c1961?  If they stayed in London, have you found them in electoral rolls?

What is the source for his parents' names, the Ward surname and the expected birthplace of Fulham?
Ayr: Barnes, Wylie

When Jessie died she was living at 57 Buckingham road , Harlesden , London.
My aunt who is Sidney's daughter was born 1949 and was given a surname that isn't ward or her mothers name and the father section is left blank but in 1952 her birth certificate was amended and her surname changed and her fathers name is added but not his birth name, another alias.
The reason for this is that when she was born he was incarcerated at her majesty's pleasure and was released in the early 50s.

Oh wow really.. How strange as Jessie and Samuel were know as nanny and grandad ward up until they died..
My aunt did say something about changing names due to the war but I thought that was just hear say..
He did have other children and their surname were ward.. All have died.
