Le Goupillot and Reid family
« on: Sunday 19 October 14 16:13 BST (UK) »
Hi,

I was wondering if anybody can help me with the Le Goupillot and Reid family? I only know as far as my dads dad Cecil Le Goupillot, who married Ellen (maiden name bickerstaffe). My dad later had his name changed to Reid. Some of my dads brother Peter died in 2007. We lived in Todmorden for most of our lives. Any help or insight would be fantastic

Hello, and welcome to RootsChat!

I see from your other post that the Le Goupillot family comes from the Channel Islands - do you have any dates for Cecil?  (I see a marriage on FreeBMD  http://www.freebmd.org.uk/ in 1965 - is this him?)  Please remember that RootsChat does not allow the details of living people to be posted. ;)

Cecil's marriage certificate would give his age/occupation and his father's name/occupation: it can be purchased online at http://www.gro.gov.uk/gro/content/certificates/

I don't think that's him, they were both Cecil's and my dads dad Cecil Albert married Ellen.
I know practically nothing past my dad. I'm just trying to find out my family tree after my dad. I know Cecil and Ellen, but that's about all I know. It's a long shot, but hopefully finding someone who I'm related to that could show me my family tree.
I know it's gonna be difficult because I don't know anything really about my family.

It could be just me  ::) but I wonder if there is a mix up of generations.

Cecil John A who died in 1988 had a birth year of 1935. He died in Burnley and Pendle registration district.

Was that the one who was married to Ellen Bickerstaffe?

There is an Alice Lilian Le G who died in Dacorum, Herts 1996 with a birth year of 1904.

Burnley could be right, we lived in Todmorden, and burnley is just 9 miles up road from Todmorden. Again it could just be a coincidence.
Possibly could be a mix up. I know there are a lot of Le Goupillots, which just makes it harder trying to find the ones I'm related to

My dads dad, cecil John Albert Le Goupillot married Ellen bickerstaffe,
Cecil John Alberts father was called Cecil Albert Le Goupillot.

It's all the right area - Doris married in Wortsthorne, Burnley in 1948. Her father is Cecil Albert and a witness is Ruth Gladys Le G.
There doesn't seem to be a birth registration in England for her.

Would she be your father's sister or aunt?
