Hi I've been doing some family research. Have discovered a grandfather I never knew about and on digging around got a scant few scraps of information. Now looking through records etc I still cant find him!!! :'( Any ideas on how to search for someone without a birthdate?

Hi Marianne,
Welcome to Rootschat :)
Is your grandfather deceased? as Rootschat has a policy of not discussing living or possibly living persons.
If he is and you know roughly when/where he passed away and it is after 1969 you might be able to find his death which would give a birth date.
You could post what you know and I m sure someone on here might be able to help.

Hi and welcome to RootsChat.

If your grandfather has died, please post what you know about him here and we'll see what we can help you with.  If not, then we're a bit stumped, because no-one is allowed to post names of living people.

Hi I'm looking for my mother's father, Alexander Davis. He left Scotland to go to South Africa. On his marriage record(1930) his age is 26yrs which would make his birth year 1904. On the same document he has stated he was a plumber. Now he fathered a son in 1931 and promptly said he was leaving to go back to "Aberdeenshire". So summing up I have a year of birth, and place he was from. I've searched records in South Africa and came across his son's baptism cert where a "Rose Davis" signed as witness. This could be a sister or mother. No ships records in South Africa and cannot find any other information on him. As far as we are aware he must have died in Aberdeenshire but how do I search with so little to go on?
