What are some nicknames used in Scotland for the first name of Agnes?  Can Agnes be a nickname for Tamisome?

Hi,
I don't know about the name Tamisome, but  my own Agnes's in the family go by the fairly common interchangeable  names of Nan and Nancy (Ulster Scots).

Tamisome sounds like a very unusual name, is it a variant of Thomasina ?
Kind Regards

Nessy is another nickname for Agnes

Thomasina is often shortened to Tamson, or Sina

Googling Tamisome a couple of hits were for familysearch Scotland baptisms for girls, so may be in common usage

Can Agnes be a nickname for Tamisome?

Although others have found a couple of mentions of this name I would be interested in seeing this written down as perhaps it was misspelled/mistranscribed. Where did you get this name from? Census? Certificate? If possible could you post a snip of it for us to give our opinions?

But to answer your question I think the answer is 'no', but there was nothing to stop families calling their children by an alternative or pet name.

This is the only  "Tamisome" that I can find with my google  search, I suspect this may be the person (Tamisome Kedzie) that pelirroja is referring to (?) https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:VQHQ It's also on ancestry

Thank you for the link to the other thread Cell.

I was referring to this:
Googling Tamisome a couple of hits were for familysearch Scotland baptisms for girls, so may be in common usage

but probably the same Tamisome anyway. :)

I would like to see the original though.

Thank you for all the responses to my query about Agnes being a nickname for Tamisome.  I was looking for the parents of Agnes Kedzie on Ancestry.com and found a Walter Kedzie and Janet Anderson with a daughter named Tamisome Kedzie.  Her birth was about the right year (1805) so I wondered if Tamisome might be a nickname, but the answer seems to be no.  Thanks again for the help.
