Welcome to RootsChat! ;D

From 1851 Census

Eve, Thomas H  Son  Married  M  21  Cook and Confectioner  b Bath, Somerset

Death, December qtr 1852

Marriage certificates only came into being with Civil Registration, which started on 1st July 1837.
You will need a marriage entry from a Parish Register.
The tricky part is working out which parish! ::)

Thank you for your help. I don't think it is the right one. I found a baptism entry in Bath abbey in 1751 and he had a son in 1779 with Susanna (Bath St michael's) but what chance is there of 2 Adolphus Eve!!!!

Hi,

I think there could be a good chance of there being two Gustavus and/or Aldophus EVEs as they could be Christian names passed down through the family.

Working backwards from the 1841 census found by KGarrad I have found,

Somerset,  Bath
Church:  Bathwick - St Mary the Virgin
Baptism:  12 Sep 1828
Thomas Henry
Gustavus Adolphus and Martha EVE
Abode:  Sydney Bldgs.
Occupation:  Confectioner

Marriage
Somerset, Bath
Church:  Walcot - St Swithin
22 Dec 1820
Gustavus Adolphus EVE
Bachelor
Martha BEAUMONT
Spinster
Witnesses:  Mary MOOR,  Henry STILLMAN
Notes: Licence

Which Henry in 1830 are you referring to?

Regards,
Daisy

Hi
I can't believe all the help I am getting! Thank you!
I think  Gustavus Adolphus had a son also named Gustavus Adolphus. Henry is also his son and was born in 1779.
From a register I gather Henry was working with his nephew Thomas Henry. They had a hotel in Queen's Square but they went bankrupt.
So I am looking for the next generation up: Gustavus Adolphus; his father, Samuel; his grandfather John, all from Bath.
Best regards.
Elisabeth
