Pitcher Family
« on: Friday 31 October 14 05:05 GMT (UK) »
I emigrated to Australia in 1965 from London, I would like to trace my family past my grandparents as that is as far as I remember. They lived in Maxie Road Plumstead.

Any help would be appreciated

Welcome to RootsChat! ;D

Some names, and dates, might help? ;D

There are many helpful people on RootsChat who would be delighted to help, but we need some basic information to start with (Remembering that RC has a policy of not naming living people!).
Garrad (Suffolk, Essex, Somerset), Crocker (Somerset), Vanstone (Devon, Jersey), Sims (Wiltshire), Bridger (Kent)

Hi,
Electoral rolls have the following Pitchers variously living at 172 Maxey Road, Woolwich from 1904 onwards.
George William and Ellen
Ernest Leslie and Gladys Maude
George William and Ellen appear in the 1911 census with children.
George William appears to have married Ellen Tombs in 1897 www.freebmd.org.uk

Does this sound like your family?

This is a possibility for George's birth-

Births Dec 1/4 1870
Pitcher George William at Woolwich
1d/895

And possibly him  in 1891.

Head  Mary PITCHER. Widow. Aged 47

George W  PITCHERr. Son. Aged 20

Sarah PITCHER. Dau. General Dom. Servant. Aged 17

Esther PITCHER. Dau.  Aged 14

All Born Plumstead, Kent, England

I am not sure what the occupations of mother Mary and George W. are ;D.
