Elsie & Ella Belcher (twins) born 1894 East Hagbourne (d/o Frederick & Emma)
« on: Saturday 01 November 14 12:13 GMT (UK) »
Hi all,

Elsie & Ella Belcher were twins born 28-10-1894 East Hagbourne. In 1911 Elsie (age 16)  is living with her brother Charles & wife in Reading as a dressmaker and Ella is living at home with other siblings and parents in Didcot.

I've not been able to find any marriage/burial entries for either and wonder if anyone can throw some light on what became of them.

I've tried Anc...., FreeBMD & Familysearch without success.

Have you dismissed this marriage, only about 9 miles from East Hagbourne?

Hi groom,

Thanks for that entry which I subsequently found - looks promising.

Unfortunately my CDs don't have all the marriages upto late 1920s etc so can't narrow down
the place of marriage.

Nothing turns up for any children born between 1920 & 1930 using surname and maiden names that might give a clue to their location. Perhaps they had none.

These "Belcher's" are in my tree (in this case Gt.Aunts) and I was only trying to fill in some
blank spaces.

Interestingly I can't find any burials for them, yet.

Hi kb,
Thats a useful find. Don't know how I missed it before!!

Using BerksBMD there is a Ronald J Turner and a Ella Belcher marrying in Reading All Saints in 1916
(Ref; CE7/1/92)
This marriage doesn't show up in my CDs of Reading churches, so can't confirm its the right one.

Just noticed your edit.

Ella and Elsie were my great aunts (who i saw frequently until their deaths).  Their sister Charlotte was my grandmother. Which of the 9 children of Fredrick Belcher is your direct connection, as presumably this makes you a distant cousin.

Welcome to Rootschat

That's great news that you could be related to Ribbo. I see by his profile that he is from Australia, so probably won't see your message until much later.

Hello IsabelR,

Greetings and also a warm welcome to Rootschat.

Ella & Elsie as well as  Charlotte were all my Gt.Aunts. I am decsended from a brother Charles Belcher born 30-10-1889 died 1963.
There were 9 children of Frederick & Emma (nee Froud) that I know of. Frederick being a Master Blacksmith who died in 1931.
I will reply to your other posts separately.

if you are, perhaps you will kindly give a reply and we can resume our contact.

In meantime I will send a Personal Message to you.
