He was in the Royal Artillery in Exeter in World War Two. Served 1940-1946.
Gunner number 1741365, 232 Searchlight Regiment.

Thanks for prompt reply - I am working backwards from the war record and have unearthed a number of Hubert Harding ( middle name probably Charles) but am unable to make a link to the right one.

Searching WW2 service records is a time consuming business & may take anything up to 12 months + a lot of documentation is required.
It would be better if you traced back via birth &/or marriage certs.
So did he marry & did he have children ?
Don't include anyone who may still be alive.
