River Dart Drowning - Irene T Tollitt
« on: Sunday 02 November 14 21:38 GMT (UK) »
Hi all,

I am wondering if anyone is able to help me find out if there is a newspaper article of the inquest held for the death of Irene T Tollitt who drowned 11th April 1981 in the River Dart at Steamer Quay, Totnes, Newton Abbot, Devon.

Unfortunately I am unable able to travel to a library local to there because it would a 400 mile round trip for me, so any help would be appreciated.

Many thanks,

Paul

You could try contacting the "Western Morning News" and see if they can help or the local paper Totnes Today.

I have been to the local studies library in Torquay today, and......... Bingo!!

Although I did not find any report in the Western Morning News of either the drowning or the inquest, I did find a brief report of the inquest in the Herald Express of 8th May 1981.

As Mrs Tollitt was a resident of Bridgetown (Totnes,) it is possible there was greater coverage given in the Totnes Times.

I will pm the report to you, then you can post it here if you want to.

Regards, Judy.
