So they were not there in 1943.

Thanks I will contact the church at Eastington to see whether they have any record of him I will also contact the other churches in the area.  I wonder if its worth contacting the local paper to see whether there is anything in there.  Suicides were quite rare in the papers but he was a war hero so there might be something.  Any ideas which paper would be the best to contact? There must have been more papers in those days?

My friend Geoff has just come back to say that he is buried at Stroud in their  “Nature Reserve” part of the cemetery.   It is a kerbstone type grave with wording.  One of our colleagues from ww2talk forum is going to go and tidy it up during the spring and take photos!
