Marriage 1851
« on: Thursday 06 November 14 12:48 GMT (UK) »
Hi, I know Irish records can be difficult to search before certain dates....I have a marriage record dated 30 September 1851 for Marian(Mary) McConvell to John Campbell Strokestown Roscommon Ireland. I was wondering if anyone out there could possibly view any records to see if I can find out where Mary and John were born or if the fathers names are mentioned .
Many thanks in advance

Since the names are given in the Latin form then it's most likely the marriage took place in a Catholic church. Unfortunately, most R.C. marriages for that date do not give as much detail as civil marriage records.
Away sorting out DNA matches... I may be gone for some time many years!

Hello,

There are no parents given but the witnesses are:

Henrieo McConnell and Marianna McConville

Besides being in Latin, these names will have been transcribed but perhaps Henry should be McConnell and not McConville. :-\

It will be Henry and Mary Anne, I would say.

Hi aghadowey
Thank you for replying ..I wasn't aware of the Latin names and the fact that marriage most likely had taken place in a RC Church...have learnt something from posting lol....it is also a possibility that the above couple came from the North and got married in Roscommon..that's really all I have to go on in finding where exactly they did come from....thank you again for reading the thread.

Griffiths Valuation shows a Bernard McConville in Bumlin  which is close to Strokestown.
There is also an entry for Campbell so the names are in the area.
