Ernest Gilbert 1923 North Yorks

Any help on tracking down this chap's family tree would be much appreciated. Things i do know!!
Ernest Gilbert (b July 1923 North Yorkshire) think this is a false date given so he could enlist!
Fathers name Frederick Gilbert
1st marriage to Kathleen James 1944
2nd marriage to Jean Byrne  1951
3rd Marriage to Doris Marshall  1972
Ernest was a Royal Marine, he had a brother called Jimmy (poss James?) & a sister called Ivy

If any one could help i would be forever grateful.

Do you know when/if he died, and how you are related to him?

Does he claim the same father in all the marriages?

Hello, he died in 1984 in Wrekin & on the last 2 marriages he claimed Frederick as his father (deceased) I'm not sure on the 1st. He only produced children from his last 2 marriages & all living children are in total darkness to any of his history. 😳

So that death gives a birth date of 11th July, 1923.

Have you looked for any births around that time and tried to cross-check them with births for Ivy and James - I had a quick look and could not find Mother's maiden names in common for births in Yorkshire.

Yes that's him, though as I said I think he fudged his age to enlist. I tried cross referencing the 3 names over a 10tr span  but could find no commonality be it mother or place of birth, this one truly has me stumped! 😞

He is in a tree online, with brother James marrying Lilly - do you know if this is accurate, and do you know of the marriage?

That tree would have Ivy Gilbert (no middle initial) marrying in York in 1947.

Probably my tree on ancestry, or my aunts, she has a few pictures on hers. I know Ivy Married Charles Rodwell he died 1975 & they had no children I lost her from there, think she may of remarried surname Scott looking at BMD but i've nothing to back that up.
My aunt & I are both stuck.
Yes James married Lily ( we think as she was just called Lil) like Ivy as far as I'm aware they had no children.
