Desperately looking for good advice.....
« on: Saturday 08 November 14 20:51 GMT (UK) »
I wonder if anyone can help me. My Maternal Grandfather served with the RAF during WWII. He passed away many years ago, and sadly, as with many families, I am estranged from my uncle's who are the ones now in possession of all documentation and photographs. I am unable to find the info I need from the RAF website as I do not have the permission from the next of kin. I have searched and searched, the internet but can find nothing.
My grandfathers name was David John Rogers (But i believe known as Jack) I understand he was a rear gunner in a Lancashire Bomber. He also served time on the ground in Egypt?? He was born 1919. This really is all I know. I would love to find out more so as I can tell my children all about their Great Grandfather. If anyone can point me in the right direction I would really be incredibly grateful. Many thanks in advance.

Hi Bea6

Welcome to Rootschat  ;D

Are you looking for WW2 service information or general family history type information?

If it's family history information, as a starting do you know where your grandfather died?

I have just come across a fairly detailed article about a pilot officer Jack Rogers RAF. He married Joyce Luddingston in 1940. Same man?

Hi Dawn,
thank you for responding. I am trying to search history on my grandfather's service in the RAF during WWII. I am doing a family tree already separate to this. My Grandfather never spoke much of his time in the RAF so I have very little to go on. He did not die in service. He died in 1997.
I would be incredibly grateful for any pointers you could suggest. Many thanks Becky.

Hi GR2, Thank you, but my Grandfather married Florence Mary Richardson in Essex.
I appreciate your help though :)
