Benjamin Leonard Cole - Born 14/02/1900 in Dublin
« on: Sunday 09 November 14 17:33 GMT (UK) »
Ben Cole was my grandfather. I know that his father was William and his mother was Sarah.  I believe that William served in the Territorial army and the Sarah came from Dublin.  I have found them in the 1901 census living in Farnborough, Hampshire.  If anyone can give me more information about his father or mother I would be grateful

The info on the 1901 entry is that William was born Salford Lancs about 1869 and Sarah was b Ireland about 1876.  As they had 2 children b Ireland at the time of the 1901 census, it's possible they may have married there

Do you know Sarah's maiden name?  If any later children were born in England - a copy of their birth cert will give you that info

Where were the family in 1911 as the 1911 census should show the area of Ireland where Sarah was born

There appears to be three records of William's military service on Find My Past,   but the site is very slow at the moment

Kay

Edit - Original enlistment in the  Welsh Wales Borderers in1886 lists his father as Sergt Edward? Cole Carlow

The records Kay found look promising, wife Sarah and several children, names and Sarahs surname very hard to read. Findmypast is also really slow too,
