John Whitworth & Sarah Bevington
« on: Tuesday 11 November 14 23:15 GMT (UK) »
I stumbled across this old John Whitworth topic while idly googling the Whitworth line. I had taken advantage of the free use of records on findmypast over the Remembrance weekend not really expecting to achieve very much - many years ago I had made a half-hearted attempt to search my family tree but gave up as too much effort.  Relying mainly on memory of names that my parents mentioned plus luckily most of my grandparents were just in the 1911 census records, I was able to trace back a lot further than expected.  Sometimes the searches didn't always bring up results straight away and with such a tight time limit, I found myself going in all directions LOL.  Now I'm just trying to consolidate what I've learned and hope to take it further if I can.

Some of the key names I remember from conversations with my late mother - maiden name Whitworth - were Bevington & Golborne but for the life of me could not find until now.

I know this is an old post, but a slight correction - the place name is Kearsley (near Farnworth) not Hearsley.  And William J Whitworth (brother aged 17) is actually William Thomas Whitworth (my great grandfather)  And now I know where my grandfather's name Walter comes from ...  This has been a great find, thank you  ;D

Hi again,
