Don't know about the illegitimate part but there's a marriage to George Mayo Wantage 1839 Q2.
(George Mayo married Ann Mayo or Ann Arding according to FindMyPast)

Searching Ann Mayo, Wantage b 1818 +/- 2 gets a full set of censuses from 1841 - 1901

show Ann baptised 7 May 1820 illegitimate daughter of Sophia, a servant.

Thanks to all suggestions. Had a feeling mother was named Sophia from searches I  had  done.I know she  married George Mayo.I have the marriage  certificate. She was my great great  grandmother. Difficult to get some proof as  I live overseas. Thanks again.

Can see 1 burial for a Sophia Mayo; 1834 St. Mary's Longworth Berks. aged 38.
Might not be her of course.
