Preston Family in Long Preston
« on: Saturday 15 November 14 01:57 GMT (UK) »
Looking for info on William Preston  - Draper aged 69 (1881 - census).  Married to Ellen from Wigglesworth.  Children -  Richard, General labourer, William, Tailor.  There were two further children I believe Jane (maybe also known as Jane Ellen, born about 1852 and Rebecca born about 1854.  Could be more children, not sure.

Trying to trace more info on Jane, Domestic Servant.  Where she went to and if she married.  She was the mother of my grand father  - James Preston born 23/05/1879 Long Preston Settle. His father was listed as unknown.

Any history of the Preston family of Long Preston would help  :)

Thanks for that  - Many more children than I knew about. However I need to get more up to date and find out where Jane went to or who she married after she had my grandfather James Preston b:23/05/1879.  She wasn't married then and no father was listed on his birth certificate. I'd love more history about her and how long she live and where she was buried?  Big ask I know.
Thanks for your info

I like to think she married and lived happily ever after.  Her son James stayed with his grand parents in Long Preston until he married in Hunslet in 1901.  I have no history of her after she left home so thank for that.

What I have provided with regards the Marriage of Jane and Smith is exactly what appeared on the certificate from the Church Register.  So no, sorry, no there is no further information.

Cheers
