Nathan Martindale & Ann Emison - help needed
« on: Saturday 15 November 14 14:30 GMT (UK) »
Hi, I have recently started researching my Dad's side of the family and need some help. My dad is John Martindale b.1932 in Northumberland, and he descends from Nathan Martindale b.1725 & Ann Emison b.1729 from Westmoreland. Please could anyone who has already researched this family tell me who Nathan's parents were and if he had any siblings? Any other information about the family would be very much appreciated. I would also be very glad to hear from any of my unknown relatives out there. My email address is (*)

I am descended from Nathan Martindale and Ann Emison. My line comes through Isaac Martindale (Nathan's 10th child)and Elizabeth Douthwaite. I have tried to find the parents of Nathan born 1725 died 13th march 1786 but have not been successful, so I'm sorry I can't help you on that. I just thought you might be interested to know that I was born in 1935 that my father was Alfred Martindale, my Grandfather was James Bell Martindale and Gt Grandfather John Anderson Martindale. It was a long time before I found the parents of my Gt Grandfather who was  born in Kirkcudbright. I finally discovered that he was illegitimate. I found him through "Find the Father"now available on Find my Past. The Old Scottish (Kirk)  records had not been on-line. His father was Nathan Martindale and mother Margaret Anderson. Nathan was from Kendal Westmorland and had been working as a molecatcher in Kirkcudbright.
