Robert Howarth
« on: Saturday 15 November 14 20:40 GMT (UK) »
I have Robert Howarth born 1776 on the 1841 census with wife Mary and children, living at Yorkshire Street, Rochdale, Lancashire.   I cannot find any of them on the 1851 census.   By the 1861 census Robert has died and Mary is living with her daughter in Mere Lane, Rochdale.
Does anyone know where they went to during the 1851 census.   I may be looking at some wrong information, but can anyone please help me.

Have you tried different spellings of Howarth? It looks likely that the family were in Rochdale in 1851, since they were in the censuses either side. There are lots of deaths of Robert Howarth in Rochdale district between 1841 and 1861, and since ages weren't recorded at the time, it's hard to tell which was him!

www.lancashirebmd.org.uk has a death for a Robert Howarth aged 74 in the sub reg district of Heywood Rochdale in 1848

However - in 1841 they were living in the Wardleworth sub reg district so the 1844 death may be more of a possibility

1841 ages were rounded down to the nearest 5yrs so although Robert is shown as 65 - he could be between 65-69yrs old in 1841 with a birthyear 1772-1776
