Killed by a train - Francis Job Cook (1895-1943)
« on: Sunday 16 November 14 16:37 GMT (UK) »
Hi my name is jean.
I am a newbie to family history and am hoping some one might have information about Francis Job Cook born 1895 in Ketsby, Lincolnshire, England , he is the brother of my Grandmother Violet Cook born 1902 in  East Retford, Nottinghamshire. While researching him I came across a private member on Ancestry.co.uk who has photo's of him as a child and a story about him being killed by a train. I had contacted this person about Rebecca Pearson born 1883 in Lincolnshire, Death 5 Dec 1920 in South Ormsby, Lincolnshire, England (my 2nd Great Grandmother) asking if they would be kind enough to share photo's of her, I didn't get a response so I have to assume they have declined my request and feel in inappropriate to contact them again. So I am hoping someone else here is connected to me through these family members and may just have the info I am looking for. Many thanks for taking the time to read this.

Kind regards,

Jean

Hi Jean, I see you are from Australia.  The British Newspaper archives http://www.britishnewspaperarchive.co.uk

Are the best place to check for newspaper articles.  It is a pay site but you can search it to see if the paper mentioned and the date is covered.  You can also type in his name and see if it comes up in the search.

The British Find My Past also has access to the papers.
Check for the report of an inquest too.  A cousins wife was killed when she fell from a train in 1942 and the inquest was reported in the local paper a few days later
