Trying to locate Catholic Church that married my grandparents
« on: Sunday 16 November 14 21:49 GMT (UK) »
Found statutory marriage for my grandparents.
The writing is in clear in places.
I can make out that
James Duffy married Esther Duffy in June. I can read the word church and Glasgow.
James ' s mothers' surname is not clear either.
The marriage happened in 1900 in the district of St. Rollox in the county of Glasgow.
It looked like Esther lived on Monkland street and James lived on Military road.
Can anyone suggest the Catholic Church name? will the parish have a record of the marriage as well?

We might be able to help if you could post the portion with the place of the marriage that you are having trouble with.
Away sorting out DNA matches... I may be gone for some time many years!

The name of the Priest and his parish church should be written on the right hand side of the certificate, followed by the names of the witnesses

I can just Make out witnesses James McNulty and Elizabeth Mc Laughlin. Guessing on minister Pouskimus Gartome  or Bartome????  Doesn't look like any name I have seen before
Last column states June 11th 1900 in Glasgow. registrars name appears to be G. Millow Buchanan.
Church appears to be St. M------- Church (last three letters look Like gor or goh)

Is there any way I can upload this image I have?

St Margarets?

A list of churches here:

Agree with aghadowey - it would help if you could post a snip of the offending word here.

Church appears to be St. M------- Church (last three letters look Like gor or goh) ... Guessing on minister Pouskimus ...

Further to my previous suggestion about St. Mungo's RC Church, a search on google reveals an article from 1903 about the unveiling of a memorial pulpit in that church, with High Mass then being celebrated by Father Paulinus.

Is there a chance that Pouskimus could be Paulinus?

If you can get a snippet uploaded, great, for now that is my best guess on the information you've provided.

I was looking at some certs for my own family who married in St Mungos around the same time.
The closest date I could find in my files was a marriage in 1896 where the priest was called Paul O'Neill
Registrar is G. Millar Buchanan

1901 transcription census shows

Paulinus Barton 48  yrs RC clergyman born England

1 Parson Street

Parish Glasgow Martyrs; St Rollox district  ED: 29; Page: 1

Someone may be able to see the actual form to check the surname.

I think the address is St Mungo's, Townhead as mentioned previously by gaffy.

Regards
Heywood
