Patrick Joseph Kinsella & father Joseph Kinsella
« on: Monday 17 November 14 03:14 GMT (UK) »
Hi everyone

I am asking for help in finding the following,

I am trying to find the dob, pob, death and parents (anything and everything) of Patrick Joseph Kinsella.  Patrick married Catherine Walsh in  6/6/1942 in Liverpool Lancashire.  I have his marriage certificate that states he was 24 yrs of age at the time, so born around 1918,  he was a seaman in the merchant navy,  He lived at 14 Townsend St Liverpool when he got married.  His fathers name was Joseph Kinsella, was deceased at time of his sons marriage and his occupation was a private in the Kings Royal Rifles.

Catherine Walsh died in 1944 4 months after their son Patirick Luke was born.  Patrick Joseph abandoned the baby and the baby was adopted and raised by his maternal grandmother.

Thanks heaps for all the help you all give

Kerryn

Hi as the marriage had taken place in Liverpool, then this birth looks a distinct possibilty?

Patrick J Kinsella June qtr 1917 W Derby 8b 1023 Mothers maiden name Markey

Their is a further birth of a male in Sept qtr 1923 West Derby Mothers maiden name Markey

EDIT a possible death?

Patrick Joseph Kinsella born 4th May 1917 Death June qtr 2003 Southampton aged 86 oddly there is a Joseph Patrick Kinsella born 4th May 1917 Death June qtr 2003 Southampton aged 86 exactly the same death reference number?

British Newspaper archive, this could be him in 1930 at the Weston police court, since it is not a huge drive and it is in your timeframe (maybe someone with a sub might be able to read it for you)

I can only find one Merchant Seaman with the initials P J (Kinsella) who fits the timescale, born Dublin 17/08/1917.
http://discovery.nationalarchives.gov.uk/details/r/C8169632
I don't know if this is your man.
This record is his seamans "pouch" it should contain his MN ID card which should contain a photograph and even fingerprints. So if it is your man it should be easy to prove.
Your best bet is to visit Kew, whilst there you should be able to view his form CRS10 which will give you details of which vessels he sailed on together with the dates and ports of engagement and discharge. If anywhere it should be in this block of 60 names.

Whoops! just noticed you live in OZ. You should be able to get hold of these documents via email any problems send me a PM.

I must be reading this incorrectly or a 12 year old Patrick Joseph Kinsella was driving a car in Weston Super Mare?

thank you so much for all the help

I have sent an email off to the archives so hopefully they will email me soon.

I am not sure how to find out if he was born in Ireland or England.  I have just asked his family if they have any idea.

Does anyone know if there is a way to find his father Joseph Kinsella as he was a private in the kings royal rifles

Thanks again Kerryn
