I'm looking for descendants of one Douglas John Lawler. Born in Birmingham in August 1919. Doug's parents were (I think) Thomas Patrick and Nellie Lawler. Nellie's maiden name was White and she was born and raised in the Black Country. I think Tom came from Ireland originally. They were married in 1916. unfortunately Doug was killed in action while flying Lancaster bombers and is still missing to this day. I have traced 4 of the 7 man crew and would love to find what family of his survives to this day. I believe Doug had a sister and she kept in touch with Doug's wife Stella. Stella sadly passed away in late 2004.

Hi there and thank you for your time and advice. The problem I have is that I can trace no other sisters apart from the one that appears to have died in infancy. Doug's former brother-in-law was quite adamant that Doug had a sister that was certainly alive throughout the war and thereafter. But he could not remember her name. Only that she had worked on passenger ships after the war and was an avid cyclist. Sadly Doug's wife Stella took her secrets with her in 2004 and any information relating to Doug and his family was subsequently lost after her death. Photos were destroyed and with them a wealth of personal history. So very sad.

Thanks for your help, Jim....I think that is a different family. spelt differently, though the Christian names are very similar.....the correct spelling of the surname is: Lawler.

I thought I'd found a remarriage for Thomas but I don't think it is.

In my opinion the marriage residence is not always the place of birth. Never forget Workhouse and overseers accounts records of birth
