Hi,

Welcome to Rootschat.  :)

Post 1921 service records are still with MOD; a useful posting from millymcb gives details of how to apply for copies:

It looks likely that this marriage is one you are looking for;

Sep quarter 1906. Registration district Walsall
William Ward to Emily Craddock
The reference is 6b 1289. You will need this to order a copy of the certificate. That will give you their fathers' names and you can then check back on the 1901 census and before

For ordering certificates online:

http://www.gro.gov.uk/gro/content/certificates/

Cost £9.25 and usually arrive within 7-10 days.

According to the death registration an Eric John Boyce, who died in 1973 in the Midlands -- was born 17 July 1924 (ie not 1923).

However I cannot see a birth registration for anyone by this name in the Irish Civil Registration Index.
Might 'Eric' be a nickname -- and are you sure he was born in Ireland?
Places of interest;
Lancashire, West Yorkshire, Southern Ireland, Scotland.

hi guys help needed I'm trying to track down info on my granddad

Eric J Boyce born 17 July 1923
born in ireland
died  in 1973 in the westmidlands aged 49
...

Death registration: Eric John Boyce born 17 July 1924 registered Oct./Dec.1973 Walsall, Staffordshire district (volume 9b page 1893)
note: birthdate on certificate given by informant so may not be accurate

The online Irish civil registration index goes up to 1958 and I didn't see any Eric Boyce listed
https://familysearch.org/search/collection/1408347

Could he have been born in Northern Ireland? N.I. counties only go up to 1921 in the index.
Away sorting out DNA matches... I may be gone for some time many years!

"William boyce  born ireland served in the Boer war married to Emily Craddock born british"

Again, we need a location in Ireland. Have you found William Boyce on 1911 census yet? the 1911 Irish census is online (free) but we aren't allowed to do lookups for the 1911 English one here. If he was in Scotland- 1911 only available on Scotland's People site (pay per view)
