parsons sutton cheney and market bosworth from 1800
« on: Friday 21 November 14 00:15 GMT (UK) »
Hi
I'm researching samuel parsons born 1855 to richard and sarah parsons in market bosworth. this is richards second marriage and there are a number of children between the two marriages. Richards second marriage is registered in market bosworth to sarah louisa Cooper. but there is no trace of it in the parish records nor is there any record of Sarah cooper. There is no trace of them in 1861 or 1871 census but they appear in 1841 AND 1851 census records. I can track samuel from his marriage in 1876 in London and census in 1881 onwards.
do the parish records for market bosworth cover all the registration areas?
I wondered if they might have gone into the poor house in late 1850s?  if so would they be on a census somewhere. or did they move to wherever sarah is from?
I'm not sure where I should go to get more information.
I searched the web for parsons sutton cheney and it showed an entry in your chat for Mary Sands who married an Obadiah parsons from sutton cheney in 1803 in Hinckley. this could well be Richards father as he was born in 1804 to Obadiah and Mary Parsons. this is how I came to see your chatroom.  hope someone can help
thanks Katell

Welcome to RootsChat! ;D

1871 census:
Class: RG10; Piece: 49; Folio: 40; Page: 2
29 Queen Street, Kensington

Parsons, Richard  Head  M  42  Messenger  b Market Bosworth, Leicestershire
Parsons, Louisa  Wife  F  49  b Sydenham
Parsons, Louisa J  Sister-in-Law  F  6  b Park Lane, London

And, for the record, their marriage:
June qtr 1851
Leicester district     vol 15, page 154

Parsons, Richard
+ and on the same page +
Cooper, Sarah Louisa

If you can't see this on a Parish Register (which are from C of E churches) then perhaps they were Catholic, non-Conformist, or married at the Register Office?

Thanks to both replies. I know about this Richard and Louise Parsons. He is Samuel's step brother born in 1826 not his father who was born in 1804. In 1861 family should have at least John who would be 13, Samuel 6,Obadiah 4 and possibly James Richard 9 and George 7.  James richard and George I haven't found future censii for so they may have died but do not appear in parish records.  but they all seem to have vanished between 1858 and 1876. father Richard has died in 1873.
