Can you help me find a WW1 soldier?

Hello, I just need a few pointers as to where I should start please?

I am looking for a fallen WWI soldier for my father-in-law, we want to present him with the information we've found in time for Christmas.

The soldier in question was Private James Culshaw who was buried in Mawsdeley at St Peter & Paul's RC Churchyard. The date of death is noted, I think, as Sept 29 1918 (the month is a little indistinct) aged 32. He died of his wounds, so we presume he was taken back to the UK from France before he died.

214 Battalion LNL Regiment - that's all we know.

Would be grateful for some advice on how to get started with this. We'd like to track down some certification if possible so that we can present all this to my father-in-law.

According to the CWGC records he is buried at Sunken Road Cemetery, Boisleux-St. Marc so I assume that the record at Mawdsley is probably a memorial stone only.   Date is correct.

Thanks everyone - wow! Fast replies! Well that is already news to my father-in-law who will be 82 next week. We all just assumed that was his grave as it's a family plot, we never thought it might only be a memorial stone only.

The information would seem to match up though - the memorial stone states he was 32 but hey ho.

Thank you, that is really useful. Hats off to you guys, I never thought I would get all this information so quickly. My father-in-law will be really really pleased.

We aim to get as much info about his as possible which I'll set out in a certificate style along with copies of those records that rosie99 found for me (thank you  ) and any other certificates such as birth certificate, death certificate etc which I know I can order online.

I'll join one of these sites too and see what else I can dig up on him. Thank you
