Children of John & Mary Garey baptised in Longstock (NB no parish records seem to exist prior to 1718)
Edward 21 April 1718
Catherine 25 Jan 1719/20 (burial recorded 31 Jan in Stockbridge)
William 22 May 1721
Moses 5 Mar 1722/23 (? died 1759)
George 20 Sep 1725
Catherine 20 Jan 1728/29 (possibly buried 9 Mar 1734 Longstock)
Thomas 23 Mar 1731/32

no sign of an Edward in 1730

If all these are the children of John and Mary Plowman married in 1711, then John & Mary were both probably born before 1700.  Age for marriage could have been as young as 14 for John and 12 for Mary, but this would have been very unusual . Even if 1700 is roughly correct for Mary, I think it unlikely that Thomas born in 1752 belonged to this family – unless he was the son of a second wife.  Most children are born within a twenty year span, Mary would be too old to have children otherwise.

There is a Garey burial in 1797 in 1797, but the first name is questionable.

Hello again Nell. A couple of months ago you gave me information on some baptisms in Longstock:
Children of John & Mary Garey baptised in Longstock (NB no parish records seem to exist prior to 1718)
Edward 21 April 1718
Catherine 25 Jan 1719/20 (burial recorded 31 Jan in Stockbridge)
William 22 May 1721
Moses 5 Mar 1722/23 (? died 1759)
George 20 Sep 1725
Catherine 20 Jan 1728/29 (possibly buried 9 Mar 1734 Longstock)
Thomas 23 Mar 1731/32

I am trying to fit them into my tree, but cannot find them in any sources I have access to. What were your sources for them please? So I can record them. Thanks, as always.
Laurence

Hi Laurence,

The information came from transcripts of parish registers.

Thanks Nell. That information is very useful. I am still trying to take my roots back a generation or two further.
