1871 John Spencer jnr (son of John) Bapt Sept 1843 in Liverpool
« on: Wednesday 26 November 14 10:36 GMT (UK) »
::) Seeing as all the other spouses have come my way  ::) Looking at the pay site there do not appear to be that many  ;D John Spencers aged 27 in the Liverpool/West Derby area. He was still being educated/teaching aged 17 in 1861 so hopefully the labourers can be ruled out and hopefully some of them were not born in Liverpool.
Can anyone work out which John Spencer is part of my Spencer family and who he married, And if that miracle can be pulled off ,what children made it to census please

John Snr was a coal dealer/merchant for a good chunk of his life.

I think John Jnr was a pupil teacher in 1861

I should add that he was a farmer of sorts in 1861 but in 1871 his widow was still refering to herself as a retired coal dealer.

I can't see an online record 1860's marriage for a John Spencer son of John a coal dealer.

There is an 1864 marriage (St Luke's Liverpool) for a schoolteacher  John Spencer to Susan Margaret Pilkington. John's father John is stated to be a farmer. I don't see them in the 1871 census but see http://archiver.rootsweb.ancestry.com/th/read/LANCSGEN/2000-04/0954594887 and http://archiver.rootsweb.ancestry.com/th/read/ENG-LIVERPOOL/2000-07/0964394425.

In later life John Snr was a cottage farmer I think so looks good - I kept coming back to this household in 1871 in Liverpool - although John is a labourer,

Rebecca Harris    6 Months
William Pranner    50

Perhaps he was not a good book keeper  :P or worse, a dishonest one! Definitely the family ShaunJ has found and fits all the parameters. If your dad had stopped selling coal and was now a farmer you would say "farmer"
