Parslow's Hillock - how / when did it get its' name?
« on: Wednesday 26 November 14 19:40 GMT (UK) »
Hi,

I'm researching various branches of my family tree, and have been looking at the Parslow's in Buckinghamshire. I've got as far back as Henry Parslow 1781, married to Drusilla (possibly Watts as a surname?). Henry is my 4th Great Grandfather through Eliza Parslow, John Easton, John Easton, Florence Easton...

I've noticed that there is a 'Parslow's Hillock' in the area, and was wondering:  Was it named after a particular person, and when  was it first known as this?

Thanks

Laura

Have you tried here:

http://project.oldmapsonline.org/about

and have you searched for local history/geography societies in the area for a wealth of information?

Plenty of Parslow/e,Parsloes around Loosely Row, Lacey Green, Princes Risborough, Hughenden, Naphill, Speen, etc.

I have Parslows marrying into my tree, but most are rather twigs than branches. ;D

I would hazard a guess that Parslows Hill was possibly named after a Parslow family member, but who know's which one, and how far back..  They may have owned it, or just farmed and live around there.
