Lily Elizabeth FRANCE
« on: Thursday 27 November 14 15:44 GMT (UK) »
Hello,
Does anyone have the above in their tree? Lily was born on 3 Feb 1886 in Harrogate, to Charles Henry France and Matilda Ann (Mawkes). I have her on the 1891 and 1901 census returns (she is shown as LILIAN on the 1901) in Harrogate, and can find no further trace of her. I have researched the usual routes - marriage, death, and even emigration records, as I suspect she may have gone to Canada.
Any "sightings" or advice on further research greatly appreciated.
Thanks

The funeral notice for her father Charles Henry France (who died 26 August 1910 aged 57), published in the Lincolnshire Chronicle of 3 September 1910 mentions that he "leaves a widow and a grown-up family, two of whom are in Canada"

Thanks Galium,
It was this article which led me to believe that Lily went to Canada, as I have traced all her siblings, and just Lily remains elusive.

Thanks Catfordcrooner,
I have both Wilmot and Gordon in my tree, Wilmot died in Bournemouth, and Gordon was killed on the Somme in 1916. Of Charles Henry's children, just Lily remains elusive to me now.

On freebmd her birth seems to have been "Lillie"

I believe this would be her death:

48 years in Canada by 1960, 39 in BC.

Arthur's death?

His second wife:

This may be her arriving into Canada - Miss L France, heading to Moose Jaw in 1911:
