Ison family pre 1810. Likely parish origins:- St Modwen's Burton on Trent
« on: Monday 01 December 14 10:51 GMT (UK) »
Is anybody able to prove a link between George Ison, married Ann, parents of Catharine Ison baptised 1810, to George's parents that may also be a George Ison that married an Ann?
My main helps so far have been findmypast and familysearch
Any help appreciated,
Mutly
---  relevant leads shown below.
Marriage  William Heath.  2 versions: CathErine & CathArine.      Spouse's Name:
Catherine Ison   Event Date: 1830   Event Place: St. Modwen'S, Burton-Upon-Trent, Stafford, England
Catharine Last name Ison Marriage year 1830 Marriage date 16 Oct 1830 Marriage place Burton upon Trent, St Modwen Denomination Anglican
Residence Burton Upon Trent Spouse's first name(s) William Spouse's last name Heath Spouse's Residence Burton Upon Trent
both of this parish
William and Catharine both signed their mark
Ann Ison (assume that is Catharine's mother) witnessed it by her mark (I cannot spot any other Ann Isons about locally during this period)
---
Catharine's brother's marriage:-
George Last name Ison Marriage year 1830 Marriage date 06 Feb 1830 Marriage place Burton upon Trent, St Modwen Denomination Anglican
Residence Rolleston Spouse's first name(s) Sarah Spouse's last name Cartmale Spouse's Residence Burton Upon Trent
Catharine witnessed it by her mark.
---
Catharine's sister's marriage:-
Elizabeth Last name Ison Marriage year 1824 Marriage date 24 Dec 1824 Marriage place Burton upon Trent, St Modwen Denomination Anglican
Residence Burton upon Trent Spouse's first name(s) Samuel Spouse's last name Watson Spouse's Residence Burton upon Trent
---
there are so many William Heath births showing in Staffs, and none in Horninglow, so it has been impossible to pin my William Heath down
----
Catharine Ison Gender: Female Christening Date: 12 Oct 1810 Christening Place: BURTON UPON TRENT,STAFFORD,ENGLAND
Father's Name: George Ison Mother's Name: Ann
It seems that the Ison children were all christened together:
Mary Ison Gender: Female Christening Date: 12 Oct 1810 Christening Place: Burton-upon-Trent, Stafford, England  Father's Name: George Ison Mother's Name: Ann
George Ison Gender: Male Christening Date: 12 Oct 1810  Christening Place: Burton-upon-Trent, Stafford, England
Elizabeth Ison Gender: Female Christening Date: 12 Oct 1810 Christening Place: BURTON UPON TRENT,STAFFORD,ENGLAND
----
prior Ison events at St Modwen's:
George Last name Ison Age 75 Birth year 1760 Death year 1835 Death date ? ? 1835 Burial year 1835 Burial date 26 Nov 1835 Burial place St Modwen
abode Burton
now, this George seems too old to be fathering children through the first decade of 1800's so, on balance of probabilities more likely (at least) one generation earlier.
----
Ann Last name Ison Death year 1810 Death date ? ? 1810 Burial year 1810 Burial date 12 Oct 1810 Burial place Burton Upon Trent, St Modwen Denomination Anglican
Spouse's first name(s) George
now, if it was Catharine/Catherine's mother that witnessed at Catharine.Catherine's marriage in 1830 then this cannot be her death, so was this Catharine's grandmother?
-----
I have kept this on one side just because it is exactly the right age to be that George's christening and is only George Ison event that comes back to that generation so it is a 'possible'.
George Ison Event Type: Christening Event Date: 12 Feb 1760 Event Place: Kingsbury, Warwickshire, England Gender: Male
Father's Name: George Ison   Mother's Name: Eliz Clarke
----
continuing that unproven link
George Ison   Gender:  Male Christening Date:  12 Feb 1713 Christening Place:  KINGSBURY,WARWICK,ENGLAND
Father's Name: George Ison  Mother's Name: Emma

Phew!
Catherine also had a sister Ann who is probably the witness as the 1810 death says "wife of George"
Ann appears to have been born c.1800.
The Kingsbury George was buried 18th. Feb. 1760.
He might be the George born 1769 Lichfield to George & Martha.
Although his age is out the info is only as good as the person giving it.

Had a look at George b.1773 as to why I couldn't find him & Ancestry has him as George Tron !
IGI has him as George Izon s. of Jo.
The 3 unconfirmed births to Joseph & Lydia are correct except Sarah whose parents are Joseph & Mary.As there are no other children to Joseph & Mary Izon I think Mary is a mistake by the Rector.
I can also add another daughter Lydia Bapt. 1781 Ansley.
