So, a summary of what I have found out with the help of you all:-
A summary of Robert Nelson
Born 1871(or 1869) in Cambs Milden Hall
At age 12 was listed as a scholar and address listed as Mill Lane Chesterton, Willingham
Job (in 1901) Carter Labourer (which ties on with family history of his taking the Cambridge rowing boats to London for the races on a horse drawn cart)
Address in 1901; 179 High Street Chesterton in the parish of St Andrews
In the 1911 census his occupation was listed as Road Sweeper working for the Urban District Council
married Sarah possibly around 1890
2 children
William (or possibly Charles Robert J) born around 1891 died 1906 age 10
Walter born around 1904 died 1907 age 3
Sarah born 1870 in March Cambs died in December 1911 age 44 although her age in the 1911 census is given as 41
in 1904 there's a Sarah Nelson of 179 High St. Chesterton accused of assaulting another woman by grabbing her nose & threatening to pull it off.
She didn't & was let off.
Any suggestion of where to go next would be helpful. I would like to know the maiden name of Sarah Nelson and the date of the marriage to Robert. Robert's Son Donald was born in June 1913 so it is likely that the marriage was in 1912 so, if Sarah died at the end of 1911 Robert was quick off the mark<G>
Another confusion is that the census (1911 I think) enumerators book entry shows that living at 179 there were 1 male and 2 females
