Crowsfeet you have omitted the registration districts/codes from your information.  Some of the information has already been posted on the linked thread.  Hopefully a moderator will merge the two threads.

Names are available on GenSA website.

Not all the information is on the website unless one pays for further information.  Many of us own resources which have more information.

Cando, your reply at #8 has me curious. I have found this:

The Industrial School
At the time of the Council's inception, the Industrial School, located at Magill, was used
primarily as a reception house for children awaiting placement with foster parents or in
apprenticeships. The Girls Reformatory was housed in the southern wing of the Industrial
School, Magill and the Boys Reformatory was located on an out-of-service ship, the Hulk
Fitzjames, moored off Largs Bay.

According to

GRG 27/9
Register of admissions to the
Industrial School, Magill and
Edwardstown, 1886 – 1929
Open after 100
years
Name search in
ArchivesSearch
for open period

and

GRG 27/10
Register of admissions to the
Industrial School, Magill, 1884 –
1893
Open
Name search in
ArchivesSearch

It sounds like there is a searchable database of admissions? Can anyone point me in the right direction to access them?

Hi Cando,
Thank you for information. I have to log off now. Husband is on motorway in pouring rain and some idiot has run up the back of his car and spun him around. He is ok.

Ruskie could the 1871 birth be Edwin James/James Edwin.  I can't seem to find anything further about James John.

From the news report

Quote
She took one of the children with her, leaving the other two with him.

This indicates to me that James and Martha had three children at that time so when did Martha leave and whom did she leave with James.  From the news report Alice Chapman was with her father so was the other child left with James, their only son?   Were the last two birth registrations actually James chn?  The 1876 newspaper report states infant dau of James RAINES but is this the info given by Martha?
