Charles James Hemmens & Elizabeth Tripp Marriage
« on: Sunday 07 December 14 04:54 GMT (UK) »
This is my first time on this site so I hope I'm following the correct protocols.

I am searching for a Marriage Record connecting Charles Hemmens, b.1806-1888, and Elizabeth Tripp, b.1809-1880. Eliz's father & mother were William Tripp and Ann Capel.

I believe they would have married around 1828-1831.

I was wondering if anyone on Rootschat had any suggestions.

Hi there "whiteout7",
Thank you for your quick response and I appreciate the effort you've put in. I have also seen that document.
What I'm trying to do is find a definite link to between Charles & Elizabeth by way of a marriage document that shows her name as "Tripp" prior to marrying Charles.
There are a number of f/trees that show they were married but I haven't seen one showing proof of the connection?
Kind regards, Bill

In 1851 (transcribed as Hummens in Axbridge district) they have two more children with them, Frank aged 8 and Samuel aged 3.
You could obtain a birth certificate of one of these two which would give you the mother's maiden name.
Births Sep 1842
Hemmens    Frank
Axbridge    10   269

There is a marriage of an Elizabeth Tripp in Winscombe but the groom's name is Samuel Baker.

The birth certificate of this child will also give his mother's maiden surname.  There were two Frank HEMMENS born close to each other and registered at Axbridge so Samuel's might be preferable to get the right parents.

Births Dec Qtr 1847
HEMMENS, Samuel
Axbridge    Vol 10   Page 270

Once you confirm her maiden name you may have to work your way around the parishes to find a marriage, or they may not have married at all.
