I came across a reference on www.flightglobal.com to RAF Scharfoldendorf  in the Harz mountains as RAF no. 2 rest centre, so presumably there were others.This was a centre for gliding, skiing and horse riding. I believe it was also a signals listening post.

This site lists several leave centres. The two in the Harz mountains I often heard referred to when I was  in germany in the 70's. I also know that the hotel in Austria was used for winter survival training for aircrew.

I think this is the Rest Centre at RAF Scharfoldendorf.  This is a picture taken in late 40's  I do have several more if interested

I would like to see your other photos as my parents served there in the late 1950s - my mother served in the RAF nursing service and my father on the signals base. I was born there.
