Could you tell us the year of the death certificate? - this may help the search.

Another thought - could this be a mis-spelling of Portland Square?

All the best
Philip

It was definitely Portland Square. I can't find it on any of the old Ordinance survey maps but my Wishaw street directory for 1925 has it listed beside Cowies Square. This was (if you know the area) approximately near the top of the Beehive Brae, left hand side going up, so Portland Square must have been around there somewhere. Perhaps where Craigneuk Belhaven Church now stands.

Looking at the directory, there were quite a few shops there, so it may have just been a long row of buildings on the main road, rather than an actual "square". Almost all of the occupants were in the coal mining trade, so the houses may have been owned by the mining company. I will ask around, I have some friends who were born & raised around that area.
Paterson, Torrance, Gilchrist - Hamilton Lanarkshire.
McCallum - Oban, McKechnie - Ross of Mull Argyll.
Scrim - Perthshire.
Liddell - Polmont,
Binnie - Muiravonside Stirlingshire.
Curran, McCafferty, Stevenson, McCue - Co Donegal
Gibbons, Weldon - Co Mayo.
Devlin - Co Tyrone.
Leonard - County Donegal & Glasgow.

That address was still in existence in 1930 if you can find a map from that era.  It's given as home address of the bride here http://meehan.familytreeguide.com/getperson.php?personID=I96&tree=T1&sid=agsearch

This map is the only one I could find which shows Craigneuk in relation to Motherwell and Wishaw (it's about halfway between the two as the crow flies) but unfortunately it isn't detailed enough to show street names.

Added the Carfin to Wishaw road runs right through what was Craigneuk

I checked the 1925 directory for 24 Portland Square, it was occupied by Joseph Forrest, miner.

In the 1921 directory it was the same Joseph Forrest - but the address is PONTELAND Square!
