Hey Susan it's me again...........I can clear up the stuff with the 3 wives of Thomas Lloyd. His first wife was Mary Jones who died 3 months after arriving here in the US, this was 1683. He then married  Patience Story December of 1684, she passed away in 1724 long after Thomas who died in September 10th, 1694. so it looks like there were only 2.....I've been unable to find out who the 3 woman is. I hope this helps.

Also check out this url: http://www.genuki.org.uk:8080/big/wal/MGY/#Genealogy............it has some great stuff.

You will find the Lloyds in directories like 'Who Was Who', etc.
They descend from kings and princes and are the Lloyds of Lloyds Bank and Stewart & Lloyd.
Pedigrees are online.
They married Pembertons amongst others.

There are a number of printed books containing info, including:
'The Quaker Lloyds in the industrial revolution' by Humphrey Lloyd.
"The Quaker Seekers of Wales" - the story of the Lloyds of Dolobran,
by Anna Lloyd Braithwaite Thomas.
Genealogical notes relating to the families of Lloyd, Pemberton, Hutchinson, Hudson and Parke : and to others, connected directly or remotely with them. Philadelphia: unknown, 1898. Parke, James P..

Thomas Lloyd went with Willliam Penn to  Philadelphia ~ the one you are looking at..
One was Charles Lloyd 'the poet'.

You can actually look in the following book, online:
'A Genealogical and Heraldic History of the Commoners of Great Britain' if you search on Google books. Lloyd of Dolobran is in there.

Thomas b. 17th Feb 1640 died 10th Sept.1694.
Married 1st: 9th Sept 1665 Mary, dau of Colonel Roger Jones of Welsh Pool, governor of Dublin in the reign of James II ...
This lady dying in 1680, he married secondly, Patience Storey,. but by her had no issue
This Thomas Lloyd joined William Penn in the colonization of Pennsylvania ...
His parents were, as far as I can tell, Charles Lloyd of Dolobran, born 1613,  & Elizabeth, daughter of Thomas Stanley.
Thomas's grandparents were John Lloyd of Dolobran, born 1575 & Katherine, daughter of Humphrey Wynne of Duffryn.

If you find the book online you will access more info.

You can look in this one too ~ it has something on the Lloyds:
on in the Welsh Tract: With Sketches

I have visited Dolobran & took photos.

Sorry ~ I see you already had a lot of this ~ I got carried away!
I have quite a bit of info in my files, though.

I have copies of pedigrees going back to William the Conqueror and Alfred the Greatr, as well as French kings.

One of the Lloyds ~ now deceased ~  actually told my Mum & me that they went back to the Welsh princes and were more royal than the royals.

There's a thread on the Lloyds of dolobran, here:
http://genforum.genealogy.com/lloyd/messages/784.html

It says: 'Dolobran which was their family home in Meifod (Northern Wales) was dismantled and reconstructed in Phila', yet, as I said, I've been to Dolobran, so that's a bit confusing. Perhaps there was more than one building.

From:
Burke's Genealogical and Heraldic History of the Landed Gentry

"David Lloyd, esq. of Dolobran, b. in 1549, a magistrate for Montgomeryshire, married Ales, daughter of David Lloyd, esq. of Llanarmon-mynydd-maur."

David Lloyd's parents were:
David Lloyd Esq of Dolobran, born 1523, JP & his second wife, Eva daughter of David Goch.

This is also viewable online via Google Books.

 Hi Susan,

Thomas Lloyd was from the "Dolobran" Lloyd family.
This family is very well documented mainly because
a later generation founded Lloyds Bank in England
and subsequently paid for extensive research
 into the family's history.
The details attached are an extract from Burke's
 ( see page 5 ) .

I hope this is of interest. In return, if you have
information on the decendants of Thomas Lloyd
I would very much appreciate a family tree
showing his children / grandchildren .

       Regards
                      John Lloyd

  To Tricia_2

You seem to know a great deal about the Lloyd family !!

Are you related ??  Who was it that you and your Mum spoke to ??

     Regards

            John Lloyd
( I am a distant cousin of the late Humphrey Lloyd
who wrote  - "Quaker Lloyds in the Industrial revolution"  . .etc )
