Hi .

My question is simple  :)

since it changed I only use  " find  my past " for newspaper searches ,  i will not be using my hard earned money to renew on that site,  :-X
so could anyone tell Me , which Newspaper site I am best spending my money on that gives Me the biggest choice of papers and most dates.

If you use santa14 as a discount code FindMyPast are currently giving 50% off annual subscriptions.  A few of us have checked it directly with them and have received confirmation that its a valid offer.

On that basis I'd suggest that this would be the best deal as you get the newspaper coverage and access to their records, some of which aren't available elsewhere.

The code would extend your subscription to April 2016.

Hi,

Have you considered British Newspapers on line?

http://www.britishnewspaperarchive.co.uk/?gclid=COnM3_2cw8ICFWPmwgodXm0Axw

You can opt for 1 month subscription just to give it a try.

Also have you checked with your local library to see if they offer free access from home
using your library card number.  This is the connection to Lincolnshire Lib:-

Hi Eileen

I am a member of Derbyshire County Council Library.

I am able to look at 19th century newspapers online via Infotrac, at home or at any Derbyshire Library, using my library card number to log in. With any luck, Linconshire may run a similar scheme.

Best of all - its free  :D

See spendlove has just told you this as I was typing

The most comprehensive and ever growing is the British Newspaper Archive which you can access with your FindMyPast subscription but it is still a work in progress. I find the search engine better on the BNA but then use my FindMyPast sub to go to the articles.

Most local library services use the Times Digital Archive and some such as Westminster give access to the Daily Mirror and Daily Express, the Guardian and Observer.

Check out Gale News Vault and UK Press online

I have also found that many local library archive services have their regional newspapers on microfilm but that may not be appropriate if you can't visit or they charge too much in research fees.
