Old School House, Enfield
« on: Friday 19 December 14 13:47 GMT (UK) »
Hi All

I am looking at an 1890 census for Frederick Smith and his wife Isabelle and family and hope that
I can tie them in to my tree.  However, I am struggling to work out where in Enfield their address was - all it says is Old School House, Enfield - Parish of St James.  Lots of other families lived there too so I am confused as to where this building was/is.

Any help greatly appreciated.
Thanks & Merry Christmas.

It looks as though they were living at Enfield Wash - no house number.  The entry for Frederick has // at the beginning and end of the household which would normally indicate a separate dwelling.  If they were all in one property each household should be separated by a single /

There is an entry for School Club house against a dwelling on the previous page.

ADDED Have you looked at the enumerators 'walking route' at the beginning of this area.

Frederick C Smith 49, and Isabella C Smith 51, RG12 1089 11 16
In my opinion the entry for the School House only refers to Scedule 95 and not to all the following houses.

Hi Stan, that School I should have jumped at it was beside the very Conservative Club I am in now! Their were cottages next to the club for years now demolished and of late a Post Office was built on the site, it was right next to the Sun & Woolpack pub.
