SP have the following six entries for these parents:
6th April   1806 - McIntosh Janet - George McIntosh & Margaret Stewart - Dalkeith, Midlothian
27th April 1806 - McIntosh Janet -          ditto           St Cuthbert's, Edinburgh City, Midlothian
23rd April 1809 - McIntosh William -        ditto           Inveresk & Musselburgh, Midlothian
21st Aug  1811 - McIntosh Mary -           ditto               Edinburgh, Edinburgh City, Midlothian
15th Sept 1814 - McIntosh Charlotte       ditto                                       ditto
20th May 1816 -  Macintosh Elizabeth      ditto                                      ditto

Regarding the 2 Janets, these are likely to be the same child; born away from home, baptised where born and then registered again in the home parish when the mother returned but would need to see the originals to check.

There is an 1804 marriage on SP for a George McIntosh and a Margaret Stewart in Dalkeith, Midlothian.  If this is your couple, it may well be that Margaret is from Dalkeith and she and George were living in Edinburgh where he was working.  He may or may not have come from there.  It was very common for women to return home to their mother's for the birth of their first child which would account for the double baptismal entry.  Unfortunately there are no George McIntoshs or Margaret Stewarts born between 1755 and 1790 in Dalkeith so the parents may be incomers or the births not be registered.

Hi
Hey thanks for the tid-bits - it all helps as l have nothing.
All certs l have and indexes searched suggest she was born in 1806 in Edinburgh/South Leith.
So l will take this one until proven wrong.
Her death cert from Australia shows parents unknown.
Hey really thanks for all your help so far.
Regards
Jamison

SP have a George McIntosh dying in 1817, Dalkeith.  No idea if this is the one married to Margaret Stewart or how much detail Dalkeith pre-1855 death records contain but worth a look.

Hi,

I am wondering if you have found out any more information regarding George McIntosh and Margaret Stewart and their family?

I believe their daughter, Charlotte, may be my ancestor as the year and place of birth fit, according to the other information I have regarding Charlotte.

Regards.

Hi

Past posts do yield something from time to time.

No, l have not gone any further with this as yet.

My Janet also went by another name of du/de Tuloch on a certificate.

Maybe either she was married a first time before William Couper...

or

...her mother married a 2nd time after her father (possibly) died in 1817.

She could have used it from then on.

Does du/de Tuloch come up in your Charlotte’s family name at any time.

Regards

Jamison

Hi again,

Thanks for the response.  No, unfortunately the name du/de Tuloch doesn't mean anything to me.

It appears from your prior post that Janet died in Australia.  Interesting, as Charlotte also ended up in Australia.

I can't be certain who Charlotte's parents were, but at the moment George McIntosh and Margaret Stewart seem to be the best fit.
