Hi aghadowey,

I do find it strange he joined the British army, being an American, i thought it would of been better to have joined the American army.

I tried to find Kay Street in Washington, England, but at the moment no luck, anyway i'll try some other way, like as it says on the army record, it does state Lawrence Baldwin Vernon was born in the parish of Michigan, i'll try looking there, thanks aghadowey.

Regards

In my experience as an American, there is little/no use of the word parish for government entities here outside of Louisiana.  It sounds like this was a matter of him trying to jam a US address into a UK form, but presumably he was born in the state of Michigan.

Perhaps he emigrated to the UK prior to joining the army.  Is there any information about the birthplace of his parents on any records?
